Tips for placing a Cintropur filter sleeve. Demonstration animated by a video film.

The process illustrates the steps to follow to facilitate the installation of a Cintropur filter sleeve. The model of the filtering sleeve used for the demonstration is that of the Domestic generic range comprising the Domestic Line range and the Smart Line range, and the range of Cintropur UV ultraviolet water sterilizers. The filter models concerned are SL240, DUO-CTN SL240, TRIO-CTN SL240, NW25, NW25 DUO, DUO-CTN NW25, TIO, TIO-UV, DUO-UV, TRIO-UV-25W and TRIO-UV-40W.
This method is valid for the large Cintropur NW32 filter model from the Domestique Line range which has a filter sleeve holder with centrifugal propeller and closing lid. This method is also valid for the NW280, NW340 and NW400 models of the Semi-Industrial range as well as for old and new NW50, NW62, NW75, NW500, NW650 and NW800 models from the Industrial range. The difference for semi-industrial and industrial models is that they have a propeller and a cover that attaches with a screw.

How to identify the correct filter sleeve format ?

In each image of the filter sleeve model there is a drawing above the Cintropur/SHOP logo that illustrates its dimensions. Measure the size (height x width) of your filter sleeve and compare the dimensions. NOTE: The size of the filter sleeve also identifies the Cintropur model of the water filter or liquid filter to which it belongs.

The type of water and its origins provide the information that determines the choice of the filter sleeve. Here is an indicative table that categorizes the filtration thresholds and number of filters used generally according to the types of water:

Two physical parameters have a significant impact on the filtration of water: turbidity and the nature of its sedimentation.
Turbidity refers to the content of suspended particles that makes the water cloudy and colorful. For example, the diluted clay is an enemy too fluid to be filtered efficiently, it requires the technique of decantation. Domestic ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis are rapidly clogged by the accumulation of clay. Semi-industrial devices that support intensive rinsing are essential if we want to obtain a permanent and effective result.
The sediments are composed of micro rocky, sandy and dissolved organic debris. The volume and size of the sediments vary depending on the origins of the water that directly feeds or infiltrates wells, groundwater, ponds, canals or rainwater harvesting. Filtration of sedimentary particles works with filter sleeves of 150 to 25 microns.

In summary, it is necessary to tame the water filtration by testing several filtration thresholds with different filter sleeves. In this way, the quickly of fouling can be more accurately evaluated in order to better adapt the filtration fineness and to choose the number of filters required.

When using multiple filters, it is important to respect the intermediate filtration levels. Examples A, B and C:

300 and 150 μm -› coarse filtration;
100 and 50 μm -› medium filtration;
25 and 10 μm -› standard filtration;
5 μm -› fine filtration;
1 μm -› very fine filtration.

NOTE: Filter sleeves of 300 and 150 μm are washable for reuse a maximum of times. They are used primarily to rough the first stage of filtration, especially to retain plant and organic debris such as leaves, twigs, stones, insects, etc., the size of which does not exceed 2 to 5 millimeters.

Can we purify water with filter sleeves ?

The answer is no. Filter sleeves, roller with ropes or membranes refine the water but do not purify it. Water purification is a higher level of water treatment comprising several categories that develop different processes depending on the water or the liquid to be purified. The activated carbon treatment, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis or ultraviolet radiation are examples. NOTE: Filtration by filter sleeve does not produce drinking water unless the filtered water has already been treated beforehand such as water from the public network.

In terms of water purification, Cintropur has two processes to produce drinking water: activated carbon category (Cintropur or Carbolite™) and UV category (ultraviolet radiation). For water other than that of the public network that is to be made fit for human consumption, an analysis by an approved laboratory is essential. The results of this analysis will validate one of these processes or the implementation of the two treatment systems.

Should we filter the water distributed by the public network?

Yes. It is advisable to install a filter with a 25 μm filter sleeve at the main water inlet (water meter or major valve) to protect all the installations from a possible deposit, when there is work on the outer pipes. Many works are regularly undertaken on the public network to modernize it, and it is not uncommon for sand, rust particles or stones to escape from the purges.

Are Disposable Filter Sleeves 100 μm, 50 μm, 25 μm, 10 μm, 5 μm and 1 μm reusable ?

Yes in general. Everything depends on its use. Disposable filter sleeves can be cleaned in the washing machine at 40° C maximum. Gradual fraying will be caused at each cleaning. In Guyana, for example, the water used for showers is very clayey. This requires cleaning every 10 days on average! For drinking water, we do not recommend it.

Can Cintropur Filter Sleeves be used to filter liquids other than water ?

Yes. The original design of the Cintropur sleeves has been for industrial use and food since 1950. Oils, mineral oils, fruit juices, vegetable juices, alkaline liquids, natural aromatic liquids, etc., whose viscosity allows it.

At what temperatures do Cintropur filter sleeves resist ?

The maximum permissible temperature is the same as for the filters: 50 ° C.

NOTE: these figures relate to the water of a public network. For other types of water, the loss of flow increases with the turbidity rate. When water is heavily charged, the flow loss is accelerated by saturation and clogging of the filter sleeve.
